Graduating from the University of Alberta in 1979 with a civil engineering degree, Tim worked as a design and field engineering consultant, achieving his designation as a professional engineer in 1981. Tim completed his law degree at the University of Alberta in 1984, was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1985, and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2010.
When not in school, Tim gained valuable field experience while working for a construction contractor, a utilities regulator, and performing wiring and electrical maintenance work.
Tim has resided in Calgary since 1995, when he established the Calgary office of a leading Alberta law firm. Prior to establishing Hagg Law, Tim was the senior partner at a respected Calgary firm focused on casualty and property claims.
With over 30 years of litigation experience, Tim’s unique qualifications as both a formally trained engineer and a lawyer allow him to provide his clients with timely and practical advice, both from a risk management and litigation perspective. His understanding of the technical issues arising in his focus practice areas is a benefit to his clients and the experts that he frequently works with.
Tim’s practice focuses on property and casualty claims, coverage opinions, and design professionals’ errors and omissions. He has litigated cases in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia, and serves clients in both North American and overseas markets.
Tim has presented lectures for the Canadian Bar, University students, insurers, brokers, and other industry groups. Tim is highly ranked by Lexpert, Best Lawyers and Martindale-Hubbell.
Outside of the office, Tim enjoys golfing, cycling, and hoping that the Calgary Flames may one day win a second Stanley Cup.
